Week 3 Results- Need to do better

Officially a two-week losing streak after a good week one. I need to go back and look, but I feel last year, there was a little bit of a losing streak early before just getting hot for several weeks in a row. We'll learn from this week, get another data point, and get even better for upcoming weeks.

Admittedly, this could have been so much worse if the Raiders went off, as I was facing about 20% Derek Carr, 10% Michael Crabtree, and 10% Amari Cooper. Also had a nice GPP hit with two things I mentioned on the show that I do, the DFS Power Grid. Tom Brady had a nice game and Russell Wilson/Doug Baldwin had a nice game as well. I profited $100 in GPP's.

I could have been so much better if Kelvin Benjamin doesn't get hurt, as I lost 20% of my games by less than 8 points.

Starting Bankroll- $10,210
Amount invested Week 3- $1,250
Amount Won $740
Net Profit/Loss: -$510
New Bankroll- $9,700

On a side note, I don't typically post my GPP strategies, but can if there is interest. I won't be posting GPP lineups, but could do some strategy write-ups.

  1. Rough week for everyon I think. Lost 15% of what I invested, definately not that bad, but it's not great either. You win some, you lose some!

  2. I follow your blog, but my results have been exactly the opposite. I lost $1,000 week 1, but won $800 last week and $1,500 this week. I avoided Cam and was underweight in K. Benjamin with a lot of K. Hunt, K. Cousins, Ertz, and AJ Green. I listen to your information for insight, but find myself going with Dodds advice more frequently. This week I just couldn't get behind the Cam Newton call by both you and Dodds, which worked out in my favor...

  3. Awesome Douglas, glad you've had success. I should have avoided Cam, but I would have went with Wentz as my second quarterback so not sure it would have mattered. At the end of the day, you're doing it perfectly getting the most information you can and then making your own decisions.

  4. I like your stuff. Very similar to what Douglas said... loss, win, win. I got lucky and somehow survived Cam (67%), Ajayi (67%), Kelce (33%), with AJ Green (100%), Hunt (100%), Ertz (33%) and D.Parker (33%). Should be my biggest week if Witten holds form. A lot of players that I could not fit into my rosters, under-performed. Some luck there.
Weird weekend JAX-bal, MIN-tb, CHI-pit (Howard), NYJ-mia, NO-car, BUF-den, and WAS-oak. Unusual players scoring tons of points. Don't abandon the system due to a unusual weekend.

  5. Devin: I would really like to see your GPP Strategy. I'm doing good in Cash Games, but my GPP lineups end up looking "Cashy". Your strategy might help me pivot to different players. Love the blog!

  8. Would like to hear your GPP strategy as well. A few lineup killers and what you tend to look for aside from match ups, high ceiling low trend etc. What do you think is the number one key strategy to consistently compete in GPP's?

    Thanks for the insight

  11. I'll probably be in the minority, but I'd rather read a more focused blog on cash games specifically then GPP strategy/picks. Plenty of that content on all of the other fantasy sites, but I think you are among the best at cash game content.

    1. Thanks MDS, and my goal is not to change the blog, it will remain primarily a cash game focused blog. I may add in some small GPP pieces or paragraphs at the end though. Will keep this as primarily focused to cash games as that is primarily what I play.

  13. Yes let's have some more incite into GPP strategy. FBguys does a great job with cash game advice already. The GPP game requires more nuance and strategy when building lineups and I for one will take ALL the GOOD advice I can get.

  16. I am even for the year too. With similar pattern. Won week 1, even week 2, lost week 3. I am fairly well in cash games with 70% of my bankroll but not well in GPP which has been about 30% of my bankroll. So I think I will dial it down again to about 10% GPP to focus more on cash games over next couple of weeks. At least until I build up my winnings again.
